Our Policy: All bookings require a 50% deposit of the total cost  of your order to secure your date payable to: gateauxlilacakes@gmail.com

We are usually busy in the kitchen so ...RESPONSE TIME TO ALL INQUIRIES AND MESSAGES WITHIN 48 HOURS. Please ensure message left on our answering service are accurate including RETURN TELEPHONE CONTACT INFORMATION.

Delivery is available within a 30KM radius for a fee of $25.00. Outside 30KM radius $20.00 + $0.50 per kilometer.

We are more than two years into the COVID-19 pandemic and it looks like COVID is now just a part of our lives. I think it’s fair to say that the threat that brings to large events is now one that is foreseeable.  That said, I have developed this policy to provide transparent and fair Terms & Conditions for COVID-19-related postponements and cancellations.
 

IF YOU NEED TO POSTPONE YOUR WEDDING/PARTY/EVENT DUE TO COVID-19 ISSUES:

And I am available on your new wedding/party/event date: 
then your deposit and any payments made towards the full/final balance will transfer and apply to the new party/event date*. The date for payment of any balance due will be recalculated to the day of delivery/pickup (or 4 weeks prior to new wedding date).

And I am not available on your new party/event date:
then 50% of your deposit will be refunded and any additional payments made towards the full/final balance will be refunded in full*.

*If work has already begun on your cake when you give notice:
then the cost of materials and time for decoration will be subtracted from the total deposit. 50% of the remaining deposit will be refunded.   Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets will provide a photo of work completed and itemized list of materials and costs will be provided.  Examples are below, based on an $250, 24-serving cake with all standard flavours that has already been baked, filled, frosted and decoration work has started:

• Example A: I am available for your new date, however, you would owe an additional fee of $75 for the following:  Materials ($25) + Decorating Time ($50 for 2 hours) = $75 additional fees
• Example B: I am not available** for your new date and you will be refunded as follows:
  • You’ve paid the $125 deposit: 
    • Deposit ($125) - Materials & Decorating Time ($75) = Deposit Remaining ($50) = Deposit Refund ($25)
  • You’ve paid the $125 deposit, plus you’ve paid $125 for the final/full balance:
    • Deposit ($125) - Materials & Decorating Time ($75) = Deposit Remaining ($50) = Deposit Refund ($25) + Final Balance Refund ($125) = Total Refunded ($150)

**90 day notice must be provided.  If new wedding date is inside of 90 days from the day you provide me with the new date and I'm not available, then the deposit is not refundable. Any balance paid will be entirely refunded.

IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR WEDDING/PARTY/EVENT DUE TO COVID-19 ISSUES:

50% of your deposit will be refunded and any payments made towards the full/final balance will be refunded in full**

**If work has already begun on your cake when you give notice:
then the cost of materials and time for decoration will be subtracted from the total deposit and 50% of the remainder of the deposit will be refunded.  Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets will provide a photo of work completed and itemized list of materials and costs in support of any deduction from your deposit.  See examples A and B above. 

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of total cost for custom cake/dessert orders is required after consultation in order to secure your date.  All details need to be received 3-4 days prior to the event date (excluding weddings) as we require complete information to start the baking and decorating process.  If all information is not received 3-4 days prior to your event and the 50% deposit not collected, your request will be considered null and void and your order will not be processed.

The client is responsible for providing an appropriate size, level, and stable table or surface with a cool and safe environment for the cake(s) and/or desserts.  We are NOT RESPONSIBLE  for damage resulting from tables that are not level, weak, too small, or if your order is placed in a warm area.  Please keep in mind that there can be wind, rain, temperature, pets, bugs, or other situations, especially for outdoor deliveries that can harm or cause damage to your order. We are not responsible for any damages incurred after delivery and set-up.

If you or a designated party decide to pick-up your own cake or cookie order, kindly note that you (the client) will assume ALL LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY for the condition of your order once it leaves Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets possession. Once an item has been picked up by you or your designated party and leaves our premises, it is considered accepted.  For tiered cakes, we strongly suggest delivery and set-up to be done by a Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets employee.

Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets is  so pleased to provide desserts for your wedding or special occasion. However, before placing your order, kindly read the Terms and Conditions outlined:

1.   A damage deposit for the rental of stands and plates is required.  The deposit will be refunded upon the return of the said item(s) in the same condition, cleaned and by the specified date agreed upon in the written contract/quotation.

2.   A 50% retaining fee is required in order to secure your date.  This retaining fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

3.   Payment can be made by cash, cheque or e-transfer at the present time.  Post-dated cheques are not accepted.

4.   Please make cheque(s) payable to Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets.

5.   NSF cheque(s) are subject to a fee.

6.   Full payment is required 14 days prior to delivery date as agreed upon in the written contract/quotation.

7.   Cancellation within 14 days of the delivery date requires full payment fo the remaining balance.

8.   If no colour swatch is provided, judgement of colour will be left to Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets.

9.   Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets is not responsible for any damage done to the wedding cake/desserts after delivery and set-up.  Please have someone available to check the cake condition at the time of delivery and set-up (ie caterer or Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets.)

10.   Changes in cake design must be made at least 5 weeks prior to the delivery date as agreed upon in the written contract/quotation.

11.   Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets is not responsible for the condition of fresh flowers provided by an outside florist.

12.   I allow Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets permission to use their creative judgement on the final design of my cake/dessert as agreed upon in the written contact.

Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets is so pleased that you have considered us to provide you with your wedding cake or special occasion desserts. Our taste testing packages come in cupcake form and are offered at a cost of $70.00. 

If you would like to taste our goods before committing to ordering your wedding cake or special occasion cake, our Tasting Boxes are the perfect solution and are available to order with a 3 day pre-advance notice! Each box includes 12 cupcakes in your choice of up to 4 flavours as outlined on our flavours page here. Please contact us to order your tasting box.

If you enjoy out products and wish to book your wedding or event with us, you will be eligible for a 40% rebate on your tasting box upon signing your contract or agreement with us.

ALL ORDERS MUST BE PLACED A MINIMUM OF 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE.

Gâteaux Lila Cakes & Sweets takes pride in our products and we do our utmost to ensure our clients are completely satisfied.  We value our clients and cherish our great reviews.  If by chance, you are unhappy or dissatisfied with our product or service, please contact us and we will do our utmost to rectify the situation to the satisfaction of both parties involved.

We do request inspiration photos, however, we do not guarantee cakes will look exactly the same as inspiration pictures, as we did not make the cake in that picture. Every cake artist has their own methods and style and it is not possible to copy someone else’s artwork exactly.

I recommend taking look at the cakes on our website to get an idea of the quality and style of cakes from Gâteaux Lila Cakes and Sweets, and then let me know if you would like to proceed.

Base prices quoted for a custom cake are based on 2 LAYERS ONLY with a BASIC buttercream filling and covering.  Kindly note that additional charges will incur with the addition of each requested design element.  If the cake is a tiered design, a stacking fee of $10.00 per additional tier is applicable.  Please also note that additional charges are also applicable for fondant decorations, garnishes, overlays, sugar imagery, drips and toppers.

• Each tier is an average of 5 inches high which consists of 2 cake layers and 1 filling layer covered in buttercream and/or fondant.
